About the Thai Diamonds Manufacturers Association
The Association, or TDMA, was a natural offspring of the growing diamond polishing industry in Thailand. Early meetings in 1989 examined how a formal, registered association could benefit existing manufacturers and attract new industry.
The TDMA's close relationship with the Board of Investment was a vital catalyst to the early growth as new members were assisted through the BOI's promotional scheme. The TDMA and the BOI worked closely together to establish a system whereby incoming rough diamonds are exempt from VAT and are delivered to member companies within hours of landing in the country.
The TDMA now has an associate member category which allows indirect industries (such as suppliers of equipment and services) to be involved in the Association.
